these ten volumes only; first editions, folio (leaves 36.5 cm. tall x 26.5 cm.), weekly publication, each issue 16 pages and 26 issues to a volume, illustrations in text; now in ten matching cloth bindings with leather spines and corners very rubbed, one spine covering almost gone, and many sides detached, the blocks sound and well sewn, some issues in the last two volumes browned, a few leaves have short tears with no loss, overall good+; not as political as the title might suggest but there are constant attacks on Ohio governor James M Cox (Squeal from the Swill Trough; Taxes, Cooties and Cox; many others); First World War coverage, regular full page women's fashion reports, reprints of short fiction by Sax Rohmer, H. G. Wells, Zane Gray (baseball stories), Arthur B. Reeve, et al., sports, humor, genealogy, Washington news, etc etc., relatively little about Columbus, Ohio (although there is concern about rampant Socialism at the Ohio State University). first edition; large quarto,  leaves printed on one side only, aside from the title leaf and a section divider, each leaf has a portrait and a biographical sketch usually with service and genealogical notes, includes a few women who were relations and a few men who wanted to serve but for various reasons did not; original paper wrappers chipped at spine and first few leaves detached, what at first looks like a presentation to Joseph Small of Piqua is by the recipient not the author (a latter Small letter is inserted loose), good+ only; Samuel Campbell, 1781-1846 was with the Ohio Militia in the War of 1812, the others included were mostly Civil War or World War I veterans.
